News: Is the LEGO Stuntz series a bit underwhelming?
The series is obviously aimed at the kids market but can it be adapted to AFOL LEGO Cities?
As a sub-series of LEGO City the Stuntz line has been on some shelves for a month or so but this week saw LEGO officially announce the LEGO City Stuntz line consisting of 10 sets which are all built around a city arena focused on bikes powered by a new fly-wheel to launch on October 1.
LEGO is obviously focusing this line on the kids market with the set aimed at the 6+ market but I’m interested in if anyone is looking to utilise any of these sets in their LEGO City?
LEGO frames this set around playability here’s what they said in the media release:
“A sensational new play experience has burst into the LEGO® City arena, expanding the play theme to new heights and storylines with LEGO® City Stuntz. The adrenaline-fueled range features exciting new fly-wheel powered bike functionality and endless role play opportunities to spark creativity and imagination through play.
“Featuring 10 new products, each set enables kids to play out real-world scenarios and decide what their heroes do, giving them the ultimate opportunity to be in control of their own stories and adventures. New features include launch ramps, flywheel stunt bikes, obstacles, building LEGO flames and more endless challenges, competitions and performances to excite even the biggest daredevil! Those looking for even greater thrills can combine sets from LEGO City Stuntz together for even more show stopping performances and endless possibilities.”
The 10 sets include a number of different minifigures (the most popular of which appears to be the chicken suit):
LEGO® CITY Stunt Park 60293: (29.99 EUR/ 39.99 USD)
LEGO® CITY Stunt Show Truck 60294: (59.99 EUR/ 69.99 USD)
LEGO® CITY Stunt Show Arena 60295: (89.99 EUR/ 99.99 USD)
LEGO® CITY Wheelie Stunt Bike 60296: (7.99 EUR/ 7.99 USD)
LEGO® CITY Demolition Stunt Bike 60297: (7.99 EUR/ 7.99 USD)
LEGO® CITY Rocket Stunt Bike 60298: (7.99 EUR/ 7.99 USD)
LEGO® CITY Stunt Competition 60299: (19.99 EUR/ 29.99 USD)
LEGO® CITY Selfie Stunt Bike 60309: (7.99 EUR/ 7.99 USD)
LEGO® CITY Chicken Stunt Bike 60310: (7.99 EUR/ 7.99 USD)
LEGO® CITY Fire Stunt Bike 60311: (7.99 EUR/ 7.99 USD)
To me the most interesting or key set in this series is the Stunt Show Arena which can be utlised be it for an AFOL (in their LEGO City) or a child alike.
Without it I don’t really see much value or fun in the series.
So far it is too early to see much take up of any of these Stuntz sets within LEGO Cities.
But there’s definitely the potential for users adding in the motorbikes to their streets.
Personally I’m a bit underwhelmed by the series although I do think there’s some fun potential to have the Stunt Show Arena become a major feature of a LEGO City.
What do you think of the series? Have you thought about integrating the series into your LEGO City yet?
